The game has the same premise as the original release, but a number of features have been changed in order to modernize the game. Apart from the main campaign, there are two pieces of downloadable content: the mini-game Mercenaries where the player can choose one of several Resident Evil characters to fight waves of enemies, and Separate Ways, a side story that follows agent Ada Wong while assisting Leon in his mission and encountering several recurring characters.
